Lorian Merriman is an Austin-based cartoonist and web designer currently creating the sci-fi webcomic The Otherknown as well as Maelstrom: A Prince of Evil, their first graphic novel with Henry Holt Books for Young Readers. Finding visual storytelling to be the most natural mode of expression, they like to explore queer themes of found family and self-acceptance, particularly within the backdrop of the fantastic.
