Kyla Aiko

 

Kyla Aiko is an Asian American author and artist whose favorite texture is rice that sticks to the bottom of the pot. She holds a dual Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies and Asian American Studies, and her writing and art have been featured in HAWAII Magazine, Bitter Melon Poetry, Threads That Connect Us, Solrad, and Character Media, among others.

Kyla loves telling stories about ordinary people in slightly magical situations, and many of her stories explore identity and draw inspiration from her Chinese, Japanese, and Korean heritage. When not drawing or writing, you might find her making handmade noodles and cabbage kimchi or listening to Mitski and Mao Buyi.
